LIFE AFTER COVID - 19

LIFE AFTER COVID -19

1. WORK FROM HOME

The episode of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and the resulting work from home and lockdowns have prompted huge financial disturbances around the globe. As a few a huge number of laborers across different sectors are asked to self-isolate, a comprehension of the effect of this move and alleviation techniques gets basic. The insights from prior studies on the impact of work from home arrangements do not extend to the current context since these arrangements were mostly limited to a select group of workers and/or organizations and were often self-selected.

The outbreak abruptly introduced tens of millions of workers to telecommuting, and data from the Coronavirus Disruption Project suggests a lot of them like it. Forty-two percent of survey participants said the experience has made them want to work from home more. More than 60 percent of those who are teleworking said they are enjoying the relaxed attire and grooming standards, greater flexibility and lack of a commute, and 78 percent said they are as effective or more so working from home.

2. WEARING MASK

After Covid-19, Wearing mask will be a necessary outfit. People caring for the sick should wear masks to protect themselves and to prevent further transmission throughout a family unit. Mask wearing has become critical in these situations. Moreover, by wearing a mask I’m signalling to strangers on the bus or in the supermarket that I’m trying to protect them. Simultaneously, I’m taking the stigma off those people who wear masks because they know they’re infected.

What more of us in the West are now realizing is that wearing a mask is the new way of showing respect. Putting on a mask every day before you go out is like a ritual, like putting on a uniform, and in ritual behaviour you feel you have to live up to what the uniform stands for, which is more hygienic behaviour like not touching your face or avoiding crowded places and social distancing.

3. WATCHING MOVIES

In recent years by the rise of streaming giants like Netflix and Amazon Prime and ever-shorter windows before big releases move to smaller screens. Post-pandemic, movies will be one of the slowest things to return and cinemas will close in droves.

Among 15 activities the Center for the Digital Future asked people if they missed while sheltering in place, going to the movies ranked next to last. Streaming has filled the gap, There will always be movies we want to see in the theater, but for most of us that's three to five movies a year. The whole future of film and its distribution is now up for play. But what's unquestionable is that theaters are only going to decline.

Most of the people are not missing watching movies as their are different options for them in the form of web series ans short films which they can watch on laptops and mobiles on different streaming apps.

4. TRAVELLING

Travelling will not be same after this pandemic . Even if borders reopen, travellers must trust that boarding a plane is safe and that they will be able to enter the desired country. New health safety protocols and systems will need to be in place, and these have yet to be defined. As governments and industry plan for recovery in this new context and adapt to changing traveller behaviour, the use of digital identity and biometrics technologies could restore trust while also ensuring a seamless journey. However, these tools will only be effective if users feel that their data is protected. Privacy, consent and transparent data governance must be at the heart of any technical solution.
Efforts to develop health protocols and standards using digital technology for the travel and tourism industry are still in their initial stages. In the meantime, airlines such as Emirates are conducting on-site COVID-19 testing for passengers. European airports have begun drawing up industry guidelines for passenger health screening. While not new, the use of thermal cameras at airports is becoming more widespread. A number of symptom-tracking and contact-tracing apps now exist in many countries. Apple and Google are close to finalizing a contact-tracing software scheme for developers to build compatible apps.

New wellbeing screening and following instruments offer any desire for an arrival to loose and sure travel. In any case, they have additionally brought security and information issues to the bleeding edge of the conversation. Any arrangements should be straightforward and secure if voyagers are to grasp them. Information ought to be shared on an 'approved to know' and 'need to know' premise, with educated assent and in accordance with material guidelines.

5. Public Transportation

Improving the wellbeing of transport will be the most problem that needs to be addressed. Over the world, administrators have started preparing for this time by creating conventions and acquiring defensive gear to keep up higher cleanliness guidelines and secure staff and travelers. India can help reestablish clients' trust openly transport by making a COVID-19 Green Label , which shows that administrators have fulfilled guidelines and are prepared to restart activities.

Such dramatic and dynamic changes in demand and supply will require great agility to keep cities moving. Digital platforms will need to be leveraged to adjust and communicate bus schedules. Social distancing will require working hours to be proactively staggered to reduce peak demand.  And the lower carrying capacity of buses will mean that underutilized private buses will need to be mobilized to keep cities moving.

6. MEETING PEOPLES

The coronavirus pandemic is affecting our lives, so we need to adapt new ways to manage and nurture our relationships, as they are massively important for getting us through this difficult time. The Government’s advice on staying at home and social distancing is bringing many challenges that impact our contact with relatives and friends and access to our usual support systems.

Despite social distancing which we all must observe, it’s important to build a routine for keeping in touch with others as this will help you maintain your mental wellbeing.  You may find it helpful to talk to family, friends and colleagues about how you are feeling as in doing so you may end up providing support to them, too.

Staying connected

There are so many ways to stay connected with family, friends and colleagues whilst shielding or isolating at home.

  • Make use of social media, text, instant messaging, phone and video messaging as ways of keeping connected.  You could also do this with people you are sharing a house with as a fun way to stay connected.
  • Make it enjoyable by talking about something other than the current situation.
  • Get creative about how you connect online such as video messaging your family or friends. Try playing online games together that you can share on social media.

Many older people may not be able to go to stores right now. You can offer to pick up some groceries or help them arrange delivery. There is also the Support the most vulnerable citizens key helpline launched for those that don’t have anyone to rely on, they will arrange emergency food supplies or social contact.
